Tokyo Broadcasting System, the mobile content provider Index, and the
satellite-TV broadcaster Sky Perfect Communications said Monday that they would form a venture to show television programs over the Internet.
The companies plan to show World Cup soccer, for which Index has broadcasting rights over the Internet and cellphones.
The three businesses said that they would also ask other nationwide
television networks, including Japan's biggest broadcaster, Fuji Television Network, to participate in the venture. (Reuters)
