PMK cadre demand dismissal of Minister from TN Cabinet - Newindpress.com: "As many as 500 cadre of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Wednesday, staged a demonstration in Chidambaram, demanding the dismissal of Minister for Backward Classes M R K Panneerselvam from the Ministry, for acting against the interests of coalition partner PMK, during the indirect election for the chairman post in Chidambaram Municipality.

The PMK leaders also demanded that the government should remove municipal commissioner R Ramani immediately.

Addressing the protest meeting in Chidambaram, town secretary of PMK A Ramesh said the Minister had acted against the interests of the PMK during the local body elections in the temple town. Colluding with the Minister, the commissioner had paved way for the election of CPI (M) nominee H Bowzhiya Begam, as chairman in the indirect election held recently.

Though the PMK candidate, S Anbarasi had the support of the majority 17 councillors, she was not elected for the post. Ramesh also demanded that the government should remove MRK Panneerselvam and Ramani from their respective posts immediately.

Other PMK leaders, V M S Soundara Pandiyan, Devadoss Padaiyandavar and Arul spoke on the occasion."
