Rush for Wealth in China’s Cities Shatters the Ancient Assurance of Care in Old Age

Rush for Wealth in China’s Cities Shatters the Ancient Assurance of Care in Old Age - New York Times By HOWARD W. FRENCH
As China’s economy develops, old customs like the ironclad obligation to care for the elderly are breaking down.

Comment from Gagan: my dislike of China is confined to the state, run by misogynistic, hypocritical and imperial elite. The plight of ordinary chinese in theri villages is as hearbreaking as it is in the case of Indian villages and cities. At least Chinese cities seem to be better than that of Indian ones. Is that a correct assessment? I don't know- not enough reliable information.
