Newindpress - Assembly Polls 2006: "Cadres of the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) protested against the selection of Atralarasu alias Sakthivel as their party candidate for Chengam (reserved) constituency on Sunday. People in large numbers took part in the demonstration, while Atralarasu, who garlanded the Ambedkar statue in Chengam and MelChengam, was flanked by only a few cadres.
As a prelude to the overt outburst on Sunday, a resolution was passed at the party’s Pudupalayam block committee meeting on Saturday, to request the party chief to change the candidate."
