Cinema 2003: "2002 witnessed 193 releases, of which 83 were original Tamil films and 110 were dubbed, while 2003 had lesser number of films released. There were only 184 films. But of them, there were 100 original Tamil films, 17 more than the previous year's.
There were 8 films that were not released despite being completed and censored, taking the total of censored but not released films to 168.
It was also the year when actors Vijaykant, Satyaraj, Mohanlal and Chiranjeevi completed 25 years in films.
'Dhool', 'Samy' and 'Kadhal Konden' had 25 weeks run at theatres.
About 18 films had their 100 days run, including 'Ramana', 'Jayam', 'Dum', 'Thiruda Thirudi', 'Arasu', 'Kaakka Kaakka' and 'Parthiban Kanavu'."
