NY Times: "Citing government estimates, newspaper reports and figures developed by research organizations, the analysis put a price tag of $1.7 trillion for the next 10 years on 28 major programs advocated by Mr. Kerry during his campaign. It said the tax increases Mr. Kerry had called for would raise about $700 billion over the same period, leaving a $1 trillion gap.
In an advertisement this month, the Bush campaign said that Mr. Kerry would have to raise taxes by at least $900 billion. The biggest component of the Mr. Kerry's spending projections is a $900 billion health insurance plan. He has called for repealing the Bush tax cuts on people earning more than $200,000, a shift the Bush campaign said would bring in a little more than $500 billion over the next decade."
