News Today: "The movie is expected to be completed in six months and ready for release during Deepavali. The cast includes Jeyam-fame Sadha, Vivek, Prakash Raj, Malayalam actors Nedumudi Venu, 'Cochin' Haneefa and Kalabhavan Mani.
Unlike his earlier movies, Shankar's launch-function of Anniyan was a low-key affair. The grandeur normally attached to the launch function of his movies was missing. The walls in the place where the function was held had quotes of political leaders and philosophers painted all around.
Among those gathered at the function included directors Bharathiraja, R K Selvamani, K S Ravikumar and Dharani, producers A V M Saravanan, P L Thenappan, Ibrahim Rowther and KRG and actresses Sangavi, Swathy and Dhiya among others.
For Shankar, Anniyan is rather a significant film. Having given five consecutive hits - Gentleman, Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans and Mudhalvan, he missed out on Boys. "
