City of Boston: "Mayor Menino is once again spearheading Boston Shines, a citywide cleanup effort on Friday May 21 and Saturday May 22. The cleanup will be a massive collaboration of city and public agencies, private organizations, universities, local residents and civic groups. This year will mark the second annual citywide cleanup. Last year over 5,000 volunteers worked together collecting over 100 tons of debris and litter, planting over 1,000 flowers, and spreading over 150 yards of mulch. This annual event will be an excellent opportunity for the people of Boston to help make our city an even better place to live and work. "
