The Master of Ambiguity: Vajpayee - Rajdeep Sardesai

NDTV - Columns: "When I asked Vajpayee why he had given contrary responses in Ahmedabad and Goa, he appeared a little aggrieved. 'There was no contradiction. When I visited Ahmedabad, I did not know of the horror of Godhra where so many Hindus were burnt alive.' But surely in the age of 24 hour news channels, Vajpayee had seen the charred bodies of the Godhra victims before he came to Gujarat? Surely, it didn't require the tranquility of Goa to remind him that the violence in Gujarat had followed an act of mindless terror in Godhra? "
