Art for art’s sake
The Week: "Theres more to Chennai than filter coffee. At least, the Lalit Kala Akademi thinks so. The city is a cultural destination, says the Akademi. To prove the point, it held an exhibition featuring 24 contemporary artists from south Indian states. DhrishtiA Contemporary Vision featured the works of Yusuf Arakkal (in pic), P. Gopinath, Thota Tharani and Anjani Reddy, among others. 'These artists command value on the creative front as well as in art markets in India and elsewhere,' says Radha Venuprasad, the shows curator. "
