Steve Ballmer, chief executive of Microsoft, concluded multimillion-dollar software partnerships with two of the leading outsourcing companies in India and stepped up plans to hire more programmers in the country. The deals will enable Infosys Technologies and Wipro to use Microsoft technologies to build software for their clients.
Infosys and Microsoft said they together would invest $8 million in the new venture. Wipro declined to specify its investment. Ballmer said during the announcement that Microsoft would hire hundreds of Indians in the coming months, but he did not give specific figures. (AP)
