Journal Gazette/Times-Courier Online: "According to Cliff Feltham, spokesperson for KU, a squirrel got into one of the utility's substation's around 12:15 p.m. Monday, shutting 2,540 customers' power off. 'The outage pretty much involved most of the western side around the Bypass of Winchester. Along the Bypass was pretty much the center of the area (affected),' Feltham said. 'Either side of the Bypass, west a little ways and east a little ways and probably down Lexington Avenue (West) up to the hospital lost power.'
The power was restored by 12:45 p.m. Winchester police officers also responded to the outage and directed traffic at intersections where traffic lights were out. KU is based in Lexington and serves 485,253 electric customers in 77 Kentucky counties, including Clark. The utility also serves customers in five counties in Virginia."
