From Appu to Stalin?

Chennai Online News Service - View News: 'Hoping to extract key statements from Appu, wanted in the Sankararaman murder case against the Kanchi Sankaracharya and others, the Tamil Nadu police are working feverishly on a new angle, aimed at trying to catch some political fish.

The police hope to find links among Appu's henchmen and some DMK functionaries like former Chennai Mayor M K Stalin, former minister Arcot N. Veerasamy, DMK leader Balaraman, among others - the ultimate goal is to try and implicate some DMK leaders in the Anna Nagar Ramesh suicide case.

Stalin is not just Karunanidhi's son but is also considered to be No 3 in the DMK hierarchy now after Karunanidhi and K Anbazhagan. He is widely regarded in the party as Karunanidhi's heir.

The 38-year-old Ramesh alias Ramesh Narayanan was a resident of Anna Nagar and a building contractor by profession. He was said to be a close friend of Stalin.

Deivasigamani, a building contractor, was awarded a contract in the East Coast Road project during the DMK rule. However, after the AIADMK returned to power in 2001, Deivasigamani gave a complaint to the police that he was being threatened by Ramesh, who demanded a commission of Rs 7 crore, though he claimed that he had already made a payment to former DMK MP Parasuraman as commission for the project."
