Having re-crafted JKLF as a political outfit, Malik is equidistant from both the Hurriyat doves and hawks and his is the only outfit that seeks reunification of both the halves of Kashmir and creation of a sovereign state. Malik also seeks involvement of Kashmiris as a party to the dispute.
