Mary Shodiya

The power of community is a wonderful thing to behold. I read the other day about Mary Shodiya, a nineteen-year-old Nigerian immigrant to the U.S. Her outstanding school records and test results here were good enough to get her accepted into Columbia University in New York, but the tuition funds eluded her. Mary's web site tells her story (http://www.maryshodiya.com), including the trip she took to Wall Street where she stood all day talking with people, hoping to secure a loan. People responded with enough money to get her into school just days before the Fall semester began. And her story continues.
