Media personnel reap Padma awards

New Kerala: "Six media persons including cartoonist R.K. Laxman, broadcaster Mark Tully and Hindustan Times vice chairperson Shobhana Bhartia were among the winners of the Padma awards announced here Tuesday. Mammen Mathew, Malayala Manorama's editor and managing director and a trustee of Reuters, Kanaksen Deka, the editor of Assamese daily Agradoot, and Manas Chaudhuri, the Shillong Times editor, have also been selected for the Padma Shri awards. North Eastern Hill University vice chancellor Mrinal Miri was selected as a Padma Bhsuhan recipient for his contribution to the field of journalism."
