Musical concert to raise funds for Tsunami victims

Music India OnLine: "Leading musical bands and artistes of the city on Saturday joined hands to stage a day-long open air concert here to raise funds for the Tsunami victims. The fund raising concert, organised by Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata, featured bands such as Wired, Class Apart, Krosswindz and artistes like Usha Uthup and Anjan Dutta.

Held under the banner 'Our planet, our life & our duty,' the concert was being staged at the Apeejay lawns on the busy Park Street in the central part of the metropolis. Rajiv Chowdhry, COO, e.books World Pvt. Ltd., the holding company of Oxford Book Store, said box collections during the concert would be donated to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

Besides the musical bands, folk artist Paban Das Baul and classical music exponent Pt. Santanu Bandopadhyay would also perform at the concert, which was also supported by leading music store 'Planet M'.

Oxford Bookstrore has also taken initiatives for raising funds by other branches in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, while employees of e.books World Pvt. Ltd., have donated a day's salary and the Apeejay Surrendra Group has extended a matching amount for the cause, he said. "
