SIT chief offers prayers at temple

The Hindu News Update Service: "Mr K Premkumar, District Superintendent of Police, heading the Special Investigation Team probing the Sankararaman murder case, today invoked the blessings of Lord Varadaraja Perumal before filing the charge sheet in the case.

Mr Premkumar visited the temple, where its manager A Sankararaman was hacked to death on September three last and offered special prayers. Kanchi Acharya Jayendra Saraswati and his junior Vijayendra Saraswati are cited as the prime accused in the case.

Accompanied by Additional Superintendent of Police S P Sakthivelu, who is the Chief Investigating Officer in the case, Mr Premkumar placed a sealed cover, containing the volumnous chargesheet at the 'lotus feet' of Lord Varadaraja Perumal and performed special 'abishekams.'
They also placed the cover at the 'thayaar sannadhi,' also inside the temple and invoked the goddess's blessings for the successful completion of trial and winning of the case.

Though the team was all set to file the charge sheet at 1100 hrs before Kancheepuram Judicial Magistrate-I G Uthamaraj, the inauspicious 'Raagu Kaalam' between between 1030 hrs to 1200 hrs had reportedly come in the way and they were awaiting for the auspicious time to file the charge sheet. "
