Junior seer gets bail in Sankararaman murder case

NDTV.com - News on Junior seer gets bail in Sankararaman murder case: "The Madras High Court has granted bail to the junior Shankaracharya of Kanchi Virendra Saraswati in the Sankararaman murder case. The seer can come out of the Chennai Central Prison soon as there are no other cases pending against him. But the court has set strict conditions for the junior seer, who will not be allowed to leave Chennai.

Sri Vijayendra Saraswati's was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy to murder almost a month ago on the day his senior Sri Jayendra Saraswati came out on bail, on orders of the Supreme Court. This had sparked off a controversy with political parties and human rights activists accusing the Tamil Nadu Police of vendetta. Two weeks ago, the junior seer's bail plea was rejected by a lower court in Chengalpet. The Tamil Nadu Government is likely to appeal against the grant of bail. "
