Distinguished MCCian Award' for Vijay Kumar

The Hindu : Tamil Nadu News : `Distinguished MCCian Award' for Vijay Kumar: "The Madras chapter of the Madras Christian College Alumni Association today presented the "Distinguished MCCian Award" to K. Vijay Kumar, Additional Director-General of Police, STF and Project Officer for the School of Excellence and Training Academy, Chennai, for his "outstanding public service."

The award was presented by N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu . The citation read out on the occasion described the awardee as one who belonged to the genre of public-spirited administrators. Complimenting Mr. Vijay Kumar, particularly for the manner in which "Operation Cocoon" was executed by the STF, Mr. Ram said the news regarding the end of Veerappan came as a surprise. There had been a major change of tact and strategy and the STF had learnt from experience. As the head of the special unit, Mr. Vijay Kumar used classic principles to draw out the quarry. Intelligence, coupled with courage and professionalism, were the ingredients which brought success for the STF. "
