The Hindu : Tamil Nadu News: "Children of a school in East Germany in Pegau, a small city near Leipzig, collected 1,000 euros (Rs. 42,000) to help publish a book on tsunami, a phenomenon that has left an indelible impression not only on fisherfolk but also on people worldwide.
In 2000, the children in Germany had experienced flooding of River Elbe, which is fed by tributaries in other European countries, in 2000.
The book, Kadalum Naanum (in Tamil) and My Friend, the Sea (in English) is a tribute to the resilience of the children in the four tsunami-affected districts. Sandhya Rao wrote the English version and Subhashree has translated it into Tamil. Copies of the English version will be sent to the children of Pegau Mittelschule.
Though no lives were lost, just the news that the children were safely united with their parents had brought the school much joy, she said. She bought 100 copies of the book for her school. The book has been published by Tulika Publishers. "
