Hotmail/MSN Work Around

For ePrompter Users:

If you are a Hotmail/MSN user, then you already know that Hotmail/MSN has made some changes that have affected ePrompter's ability to retrieve and send Hotmail/MSN messages. We hope to have a fix for this problem shortly.

But in the meantime, one of our ePrompter forum members developed a work around for the problem with Hotmail/MSN which we have recommended in the past, and the work around has worked like a charm for just about everyone that has tried it - so, once again we recommend that you consider trying this temporary work around.

We have outlined the directions for this work around below:

1) Download and install Hotmail Popper (freeware) found at www.boolean.ca
2) Go to the ePrompter new account set up wizard - menu > new account >
3) Enter your Hotmail/MSN address in the ePrompter wizard - hit "Next".
4) On the next screen, change the email type from Hotmail to POP3
5) Enter the password twice. Hit "Next".
6) Next go to the main ePrompter screen; go to the individual box for the Hotmail/MSN account that you just set up, click “options” and then click "setup" which will take you to the "Account Options" box. In the lower right hand corner you will see the blank “POP3 server” box – enter "127.0.0.1" in this box. Leave the SMTP box blank so it defaults to the generic SMTP provided by ePrompter. And click “Done”.

Please note that some people who are behind a firewall may experience a problem with this work around. Also note that if the above does not work with your account, try going to the individual box for the account that you just set up, click “options” and then click "setup" which will take you to the "Account Options" box. In the lower right hand corner you will see the "Login Name" box - try putting your entire Hotmail/MSN address in that box. Click "Done".

We will notify you as soon as we have a permanent fix for this problem.

And thanks for your patience, understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,
The ePrompter Team
