The Hindu : Life Delhi: "Announcing this year's edition of the All-India Poetry Competition in collaboration with the British Council, the Society has invited entries from poets for the current year. The closing date for the entries is September 30. An event that sees thousands of young and experienced poets vie for the top honours every year, this is a competition that hopes to see poetry emerge as the biggest winner.
Having flourished for over 4,000 years now, Indian poetry is today written in over 20 languages, with English being one of them. Indian poetry may not enjoy the popularity that it did years ago, but by providing a platform for young talent to emerge, the Society is hoping to bridge the divide.
The competition is open to resident and non-resident Indian poets and translators, and the winning poems will get the honour of being read out by a panel of eminent Indian and British poets who will also select the prize winners. Details of the contest are available on www.indianpoetry.org. "
