NDTV: "Shiv Sena today formally staked its claim to the post of Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, a post vacated by expelled Sena leader Narayan Rane on July 12. The party wants Ramdas Kadam, leader of the Sena in the lower house to be appointed as the new Opposition leader. Earlier, the Shiv Sena has issued a whip asking its MLAs including those loyal to Narayan Rane to attend the assembly session this afternoon.
The party, with its 63 MLAs has been reluctant to act against the Rane camp. A loss of 10 MLAs will mean that it will have to give up the Leader of the Opposition post to its alliance partner BJP, which has 54 MLAs. Meanwhile, Rane who is being wooed by the Congress as well as the NCP, remains secretive about his plans.
At this crucial stage, Sharad Pawar has made a stunning revelation about his own role in the crisis."
