Pro-Naxal rally held in Orissa - Deccan Herald - Internet Edition: "Daman Pratirodh Manch, a pro-Naxal organisation, held a rally here on Thursday amidst tight security. Nearly 2,000 tribals, all Naxal sympathisers from bordering southern Orissa districts like Malkangiri, Gajapati, Rayagara and Koraput attended the rally.
This is the second rally organised by the Manch in the state capital this year. Though neighbouring Andhra Pradesh had recently re-imposed a ban on Naxal outfits, the Orissa government is yet to do so.
The tribals went around the city in a colourful procession before reaching the PMG square, the venue of the rally. Many tribals were seen singing their traditional songs and dancing to the tune of the tribal drums. The rally was addressed by the leaders of the Manch including its convener, Dandapani Mohanty who strongly criticised the police action against the tribals in Naxal infested states, particularly in Andhra Pradesh where a massive police force was recently launched against Naxalites and their sympathisers.
