PM promises NRIs right to vote: "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that Non-resident Indians (NRIs) could soon get the right to vote in elections back home in India.
He was addressing NRIs at the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas which began in Hyderabad on Saturday. The law ministry has reportedly given the green signal on voting rights and a formal announcement is expected soon.
The NRIs have quickly moved to the next point on their wishlist, which is the right to fight elections."
