Tamil Nadu to hold Common Entrance Test

Tamil Nadu to hold Common Entrance Test - NDTV.com: "The Tamil Nadu government has decided to hold the Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses after the assembly polls.

The announcement comes a day after the Supreme Court issued a notice to students who had challenged before the Madras High Court the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Admission to Professional Courses Act 2006.

The state government had sought a stay on the High Court verdict abolishing CET only for state board students while making it compulsory for CBSE and other streams. The case will come up for hearing on April 13.

"Even on April 13, when the case comes up for hearing, we cannot be sure that the Supreme Court will pass a definite order. We cannot keep the students in a state of suspense indefinitely," said J Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu.(With PTI inputs)"
