Newindpress - Assembly Polls 2006 : CPI to oppose if public money is used to buy colour TVs: "CPI State Secretary D Pandian has said that the party would oppose free distribution of colour TVs, promised by the DMK, if people�s money was to be used for buying TVs.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said that since television was not an essential commodity, the public money paid in the form of tax must not be used for its purchase.
He also expressed strong disagreement to the remarks of DMK chief Karunanidhi, who in a statement had said that the Opposition parties could take the credit for peace in the State as they did not instigate violence, and said he could not subscribe to it and added that the people of Tamil Nadu were lovers of peace."
