Da Vinci Code: Indian Protests

Da Vinci Code: Special screening organised: "The government has organised a special screening of the controversial movie The Da Vinci Code for catholic Christian organisations. Catholic groups are opposing the release of the film based on Dan Brown's novel, which contends Jesus married Mary Magdelene and had children. Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi, I&B Ministry Secretary S K Arora and other government officials are also attending the special screening of the film.

Members of the Catholic Secular Forum of India (CSFI) have also demonstrated against the release of the film. CSFI General Secretary is on a fast unto death at Mumbai's Azad Maidan. The Director of Mumbai's Xavier Institute of Communication, who watched the film as part of the Censor Board screening for members of the Christian community on Sunday, has said that the film has treated Christ with a lot of deference. Farther Myron Pereira said that his only condition was that the disclaimer, which is shown at the end of the film should be put at the beginning."
