Nearly 25 eyewitnesses have come forward to offer descriptions of 'suspicious' looking persons present at the Churchgate station before the blasts. Among the eyewitnesses are stockbrokers and doctors.

Several activists of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) have gone underground in Maharashtra as well as Andhra Pradesh following the serial blasts as police explore a possible connection between the banned organisation and the blasts. The West Bengal government has stepped up security throughout the state and its border with Bangladesh as police continue to crack down on the suspected offices of the banned SIMI following Mumbai blasts."
