2. "All but My Life" by Ken W. Purdy (Dutton, 1963).
3. "Ford: The Dust and the Glory" by Leo Levine (Macmillan, 1968).
4. "Fast Guys, Rich Guys and Idiots" by Sam Moses (September Press, 1986).
5. "The Miller Dynasty" by Mark L. Dees (Barnes, 1981).

Mr. Yates's books on auto racing include "Sunday Driver." His most recent is "Umbrella Mike: The True Story of the Chicago Gangster Behind the Indy 500" (Thunder's Mouth Press, 2006).
