Chennai Online News Service - View News: The Madras High Court today issued notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a petition seeking registration of a complaint alleging misconduct by Dikshidars, priests in charge of the Lord Nataraja temple at Chidambaram, inside the temple premises.
The petitioners, S Raju and N Elangovan belonging to Cuddalore district, alleged that the Dikshidars attached to the ancient temple were indulging in various illegal activities.
They also alleged that three mysterious deaths had taken place inside the temple and valuable jewels had been stolen. Despite complaints and representations to the Chief Minister and police officials, no action had been taken, they alleged, and sought registration of their complaint dated April 9, 2003.
Admitting the petition, Judge R Ragupathy ordered notice to the state government and police.(Our Correspondent)
