Suspended lecturer held

Welcome to Newindpress.com: "The lecturer of the Annamalai University, suspended following the death of a girl student in the campus recently, was arrested in Chidambaram on Wednesday.

He was charged with harassing the BE student, Chetna (20), during an examination.

Police said lecturer R Raghuraman (25) of Duraivadi Street, had attempted to frisk the girl in front of her classmates in the examination hall on March 26. Humiliated by the incident, Chetna committed suicide in her room at the Rose Hostel in the evening. The incident had triggered protest across the temple town.

Annamalai Nagar police registered a case against Raghuraman under section 4 of the Prevention of Tamil Nadu Women Harassment Act on Wednesday and he was produced before the magistrate. He was later remanded in custody."
