Chennai Online News Service - View News: "Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister N Veerasamy today said Speaker R Avudaiappan had not given any letter recommending a TASMAC official to grant contract for a DMK functionary to run a bar in Tirunelveli as alleged by the AIADMK.
When AIADMK whip K A Sengottaiyan made an allegation, on the floor of the Assembly, that Avudaiappan had misused his office and written a letter to a TASMAC official for grant of contract to a DMK youth wing functionary Rafiq Khader Mohideen, the minister said the Speaker did not write any such letter.
The letter was written by his personal assistant and the Speaker had nothing to do with it. He also said the TASMAC official had not granted any contract, as requested in the personal assistant's letter.
The contract was given to another man Kani Annavi through tender process and in fact Khader Mohideen had challenged it in a lower court, he added."
