India registers 10,000 mobile phone sales every hour: "India's mobile handset shipments have registered a year-on-year growth of about 29 per cent, shipping close to 85 million handsets between April 2007 and March 2008, as against 66 million units shipped in the corresponding period last fiscal.

Significantly, during the last quarter of 2007–08, India's mobile handset shipments touched 22.3 million, a 24.4 per cent increase from 17.9 million units shipped during the corresponding period last fiscal."
