Dozens Feared Dead in Indian Train Crash

International News Article | Reuters.com: " A passenger train collided with a stationary goods train in western India on Thursday, killing at least two people but dozens more were feared dead, police said. Crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. (6 p.m. EDT Wednesday) in Samlaya village about 20 miles from the industrial town of Baroda.

"The driver and the assistant driver of the passenger train have been killed in the accident," B.V. Jha, administrator of Baroda district, told Reuters by phone. The train had been traveling from the northern holy city of Varanasi to Ahmedabad, Gujarat's main city.

About 300 accidents occur every year on Indian railways, which operate nearly 12,000 trains and carry more than 13 million passengers every day. "
