In a separate announcement, the Pulitzer Prize Board expanded the qualities judged in the feature writing category to include "concision" along with excellent writing and originality.
The upcoming entry deadline is Feb. 1, 2006. Prizes will be announced April 17.
In his will, 19th century newspaper magnate Joseph Pulitzer provided for the creation of awards to honour excellence in journalism, letters and drama, and education, along with a series of travelling scholarships. Anticipating change, Pulitzer also gave organizers the discretion to suspend, change or create new categories. The Pulitzer Prize was launched in 1917, with categories such as poetry, music and photography being added throughout the years.
