Yahoo service upgrade

SAN FRANCISCO:Yahoo will upgrade its instant messenger service to let computer users make phone calls as competition heats up in the growing market for Internet calling.

Calls in the United States will cost 1 cent a minute. Calls to 30 other
countries will be priced at less than 2 cents, Yahoo said. Customers will be able to buy a phone number for $2.99 a month that lets them receive calls on personal computers. The new service, to be introduced next week, heightens competition for eBay's Skype Technologies unit, which offers a similar product. (Bloomberg)
