IHT - NY Times: "About 11 months ago, a 'Cool and Connected' fashion show kicked off the 3GSM mobile conference in Cannes. The gist of it was that the truly fashionable would shun the 'Swiss Army knife' approach to mobile devices - combining phone, organizer, camera, Web browser and e-mail into one clunky, pricey device.
Instead, the logic went, cool people would have a sleek mobile phone that would stay in pocket or purse and act as a hub, connecting all manner of other devices to the Internet, and one another, using the Bluetooth wireless standard.
Bluetooth basically replaces cables, allowing you to connect different devices at a distance of as far as 10 meters, or 32 feet. With a Bluetooth phone, you can use a wireless headset to talk hands-free, or synchronize your phone's contact list with a PC or a hand-held device, or connect the hand-held to the Web using the phone as a modem, or use the hand-held to dial the phone or send a text message.
