Newindpress.com: "Two more engineering college students were arrested on Sunday and 17 others were identified to be involved in the Anna University Semester Examination racket that rocked the State on Saturday.
While all the arrested were students of the Valliammai Engineering College, officials said students of the SRM Engineering College (now a deemed university) and the Crescent Engineering College, both leading institutions, were also involved in the tampering of answer scripts.
The students had replaced the original answer scripts with answer sheets written at home with the help of daily-wage employees of the university. Most students had arrears in various subjects, officials said.
Police said the students approached the daily wagers and gave them a bribe of Rs 7.08 lakh for obtaining the answer papers.
The students, who were given 100 fresh answer books, took them to their place, wrote the correct answers and returned them to the employees in the examination section. The CCB recovered 53 fresh answer books and Rs six lakh in cash from the accused.
Inquiries revealed that one such student gave Rs 65,000 to replace the original answer sheets with duplicate ones, the ACP added."
