Dataquest IDC Nasscom T school survey anamolies: IITs have admission based on a over hyped hyper plus 2 syllabus henceforth perfected by coaching institutions of the Kota kind. Some of the NITs in the top 10 Dataquest survey had walkin admission advertisement last year as they could not get candidates through the so called AIEEE. In BITS Pilani the normalised percentage of admission lies between 97 and 100 % for all degrees. Why were the IITs not ready to include BITS Pilani for the JEE based admission? Simply because a fellow may choose to do Economics at BITS Pilani instead of an unwarranted Engg branch in IIT. IITs have been rapped by CAG for overpayment to Faculty resulting in net loss for the nation. The IITs claim of Teacher Student ratio of 1:5 itself requires investigation. Can the nation afford this when the prescription is 1:10. IITs of India celebrate their jubilee in silicon valley USA while BITS Pilani celebrated its jubilee in a sleepy Rajasthan village. Why is that Over 20 board toppers every year opt for BITS Pilani and not IITs? Why is that the girls enrollment in BITS is over 40% which is more than the cumulative enrollment of all IITs put together? BITS has a campus wide state of the art computer network and does all top 10 T schools have it? BITS Pilani has a Param 10000 super computer. How many of the top 10 in the dataquest survey have a super computer? Each one of the 4000 plus students in BITS pilani have internet connection in each of their hostel rooms!! How many of the top 10 T schools have it for their students. Even if infrastructure was measured by trees and birds in the campus, BITS Pilani would have been rated higher than several of the so called Top 10. The Library of BITS Pilani is an archiectural marvel and is headed by a veteran from British Council Library. How many of these top 10 institutes libraries can compete with the BITS library? Like medicos have internship in hospitals BITS Pilani has institutionalised industry university linkages for all its engineering, science and arts degrees for the past over 30 years. This include companies not only from India but also from USA, France, Germany, Italy, etc. How many institutions that have been put in top 10 in dataquest survey can claim this? Why is that BITS Pilani could put up a campus in Dubai five years back while IITs are still learning Geography of the world? BITS Pilani has a MoU with various IT majors of the country such as Wipro, CTS, HCL, Patni, MBT, Satyam, Intel, Texas Insruments, Honeywell for offering Work Integrated Learning programmes for the HRD needs of the IT industry. How many IITs have done this? How come Nasscom did not take this into account while deciding Industry University linkages!! Even during the IT industry blow out years, BITS Pilani had better placement than IITs. Today, IIT Mumbai is trying to have MoU with George Mason University while BITS Pilani has been having for the past several years MoU not only with George Mason university but with a host of other US universities also. The top ranked IIT Kanpur has itself sponsored its employees to do off campus MS Software Systems degree of BITS Pilani. Is the survey aware of such facts? If one computes per student cost of education at BITS and IITs, then that will be a revealing picture as to who drains the nation's funds. Has the survey taken into account the budget outlay of BITS Pilani and the IITs. The achievement index would have gone obviously to BITS Pilani. MHRD wants IITs to adopt MIT model which BITS Pilani perfected for the past 40 years. If the survey had taken Entrepreneurial activity as an index BITS Pilani would have outdone the IITs. BITS Pilani has introduced GRE type online examination for its admission which none of the other institutions have even thought about. The companies who come for campus interviews are accomodated in the VFAST hostel of BITS Pilani which has internet connection in each room of the hostel and this fact itself has been acknowledged by the companies who have visited pilani campus stating that in most of the top 10 T schools listed in the dataquest survey, they had to run from the guest house to some computer room in the college for sending mails to their companies. Today it has become fashionable to do survey by arm chair pundits browsing various websites and arrive at conclusions and rankings. This is no better than Newspaper Sun publishing half clad Saddam Hussain. If these are the hall marks of journalism of Sun Tabloid kind, then we have dark days ahead only.
the worst thing here is that even on comments every1 is beign so hyper criticval and so biased about about some institute they believe in ....everything is 2 good or bad 2 believe and finally confusing !!!
i m very happy that NIT allahabad ranked 12th...but seeing nit warangal at 7th spot is not vot i expected.....also the fact that nit kurukshetra is ranked so high is also causing a pain in my stomach....and i think dce must b there at the spot of nit warangal
I think this survey is fake as it has shown us a lot of upsets like IIT roorkee is so below.and what happened to DCE its 20th. do u think its worse than NIT kurukshetra nowayz.by the way im MANjul from NIT ALLAHaBAD and i like my college better than a IIT nd DCE.
well the ranking is gud upto no.6....but it's goin absurd at no. 7 NIT warangal being at no. 7!! also iit roorkee at no. 16....it's undigestable...it being below..other colleges....and dce shuld b ranked higher.....and the no.12th ranking 4 NIT ALLAHABAD is very good....but i think it shuld get the spot of NIT WARANGAL

THE Collge ranked 12th ,well it is pretty well and it have to be because in every field whether it is place ment or academics it has done well..
but it should adopt for NITW..

IIIT Allahabad has been rated at 19th position but, IIIT is surely better than colleges like thapar and punjab college ,before giving a comment just visit the website wwww.iiita.ac.in as it deserves a position in top 10.The infrastructure, environment and placements are far more superior than many NIT's....
IIIT has collaboration with many reputed universities like michigan , carnegie melon, buffalo etc. IIIT-A also has a universal digital library(UDL) facility center.the industrial ties are also good eg.TCS chairman S.Ramadorai is in the board of governors of the college and several other CEO's have ties with the institute......
The institutes building is marvelous and based on penrose geometry, which is highly appreciated, moreover the aluminis are at places like stanford,harvard, IIM's , also the students out here have done many MHRD projects successfully.
