NDTV.com - News on Dubey murder: "Mantu Kumar, the main accused in the killing of NHAI engineer Satyendra Dubey, has escaped from prison.
Police at the Gaya Jail are now investigating how Mantu Kumar ran away with three other accomplices while being taken to court.
"I was in the court when he managed to free himself and run away. I called out to several people to stop him but no one came forward," said Shivnath Pandey, Constable, Gaya Police.
The police have now arrested Mantu Kumar's mother, as they believe she helped him escape.
"I came to the court like I had been doing for the past year and a half. That is when the police arrested me," said Geeta Devi, Mantu Kumar's mother.
The prisoner's escape is a huge setback to the case. Many believe that the real motive behind Dubey's murder was to silence him, as he had spoken out against corruption in the construction of the Golden Quadrilateral highway project."
