BEST stir: Mumbai braces for worst

IBNLive : BEST stir: Mumbai braces for worst: "Forty thousand employees of Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) have gone on an indefinite strike from Thursday midnight, threatening to bring India’s commercial capital to a grinding halt.

The strike, called on to protest against the BEST management's alleged decision to cut wages and change service conditions of the workers, will affect over 45 lakh passengers. Officials are expecting a revenue loss of Rs 2 crore as operations along nearly 335 routes will come to a standstill. The state has invoked the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), 2005, against BEST employees who have threatened to strike."
