A savior for Sartre's newspaper? - Technology & Media - International Herald Tribune: "Days before bankruptcy procedures threaten to shut down the iconic French newspaper Libération, a prominent editor stepped forward Thursday and offered to lead Libération, a left-leaning publication, into a radical reorganization.
Founded in the 1970s by the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and a group of former Maoists, the newspaper has recently experienced a plunge in both circulation and advertising. Its readership has not regenerated much beyond the generation that took to the streets of Paris in 1968.
Losses at the newspaper reached €5 million, or $6.4 million, for the first six months of the year."
