The Hindu : Tamil Nadu News : Briefly: "Car import case: charges framed
CHENNAI: A CBI court here framed charges against four persons, including M. Natarajan and Bhaskaran, husband and nephew of N. Sasikalaa, friend of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the `Lexus car import case.'
The other two accused who were present in the court in connection with the case were Yogesh Balakrishnan and Sucharita. Another accused, Balakrishnan, is still at large, necessitating the splitting up of the case to be tried separately.
The special judge for CBI cases, T. Ravindran, framed the charges on Monday. He posted the matter for April 26 for trial. As per last week's Madras High Court order, the trial must be completed within three months.
The matter relates to violation of customs regulations by the accused who prepared fake and forged documents to unlawfully import a Lexus car costing Rs. 1-crore in 1997 by declaring it as used car."
